After a friend ask for advice to the support team about how to install the software you can find in the Cambridge dot org website without success, I decided to help him and his classmates at Cultura Inglesa, an English school center in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I was informed that the software was built to run only under Windows 7 and earlier versions. So the solution proposed by the software support team was, of course, install the software in compatibility mode and with Administrator Rights.

However, it didn’t work for Windows 10 nor for Windows 8 for any students.

Thus I installed the software, and made the necessary adjustments and prepared the 12 steps you may follow to install the “Objective Proficiency 2 Software” flawlesly:

  • It is only necessary to versions launched until march, 2016. As of 27-03-2016 the version was still having issues regarding Windows 8 and 10.
1 – Download the latest version of the program following the link beneath:
http://www.cambridge.org/us/cambridgeenglish
2 – Save the ZIP file in a folder, for instance, the Desktop;
3 – Open the unziped folder “Objective_Proficiency_Software_Updated”, and its subfolder, “Objective Proficiency Software”;
4 – Find the folder “Air”, and enter on it;
5 – Execute the “Adobe Air” according to the following:
    5.1 – Press the right button of the mouse and choose “Properties” in the popup menu option;
    5.2 – Click in the tab “Compatibility”;
    5.3 – Check the boxes “Execute in compatibility mode” and choose
              “Windows 7”;
   5.4 – Check “Execute as Administrator” as well;
6 – Click OK and double click the program, following the instructions as asked;
7 – After this install, find the APP folder under the “Objective Proficiency Software” and install the application “Objective Proficiency.air”
8 – It will run and ask for content, and will show a button for browse content. Just close the program.
9  – Return to the  “Objective Proficiency Software” folder
10 – Execute the “CambridgeApplicationInstaller.exe” program in compatibility mode:
    10.1 – Press the right button of the mouse and choose “Properties” in the popup menu option;
    10.2 – Click in the tab “Compatibility”;
    10.3 – Check the boxes “Execute in compatibility mode” and choose
              “Windows 7”;
   10.4 – Check “Execute as Administrator” as well;
11 – Follow again the installer steps as usual. When a small Adobe Air window open, just click cancel.
12 – Finish the install, and open the program. It will run and ask for content, showing a button to browse. Click on it, and find the content. The path can vary considering differente S.O. versions and architectures, but most may be found in the path which follows:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Cambridge\CambridgeContent”
After linking the application to the content, your programme may run flawlesly, the first time and all the others.
I hope it helps people who are eager to study English and thrive!
