A Brazilian Federal Law is Voted and Approved

By admin, October 6, 2024

Thanks to the efforts of ACSJOVEM and other young Brazilian trade associations, a law ensuring all Brazilian invoices must contain its tax amount passed and was approved by the Brazilian President.

Collecting signatures was fundamental to make the law project get voted in the Brazilian House and Brazilian Senate.

However, the approval relied on the public awareness of the issue. Events, pamphlets, equipment and Internet campaigns had an important role in it. The “Taxmeters” had a key role in achieving public notion of the issue. Souza developed the mobile Taxmeter, that was shown in outdoor touristic public locations, shopping centers, clubs and selected stores.

Humberto Ribeiro de Souza’s comments follow.

This was a commendable ACSJOVEM initiative, along with FACESP, IBPT and others, which we managed to coordinate nationally. We shared material, equipment, events, and managed the signature’s collection. I am thrilled to have contributed to this law approval with a mobile digital equipment. My understanding is that the law 12,741 brought Brazil closer to what we see when visiting or living in North-American or European countries.

Below are the approved law, including its translation to English, an indoor device photo, and the news at the ACSJOVEM website referring to the event and a national news reference on the matter.
